On the proposal of several professors of the Department of Agroenvironmental Science and Technology of the University of Bologna, the Council of the Institute of Advanced Studies has fully endorsed the nomination of Prof. Ronald L. Phillips for the ISA Medal for Science 2010.

The ISA Medal for Science is the highest honour awarded by the Institute "in recognition of research contributions characterized by both excellence and influence".

Ronald Phillips' research program at the University of Minnesota was one of the early programs in modern plant biotechnology related to agriculture. Thanks to his research activity, it has been possible to define innovative methods and protocols used for better understanding and manipulating the genetic basis of important traits of agronomic interest.

The awarding will take place at 5.00pm in Aula Absidale Santa Lucia. During the ceremony, which is open to the public, Phillips will deliver the lecture "Mobilizing Science for Agriculture".
