On proposal of the Council of the Institute of Advanced Studies, Dario Braga, Vice Rector delegated for Reasearch of the University of Bologna, will deliver the ISA Medal for Science to Michael Freeden for his role in the development of political science.

Michael Freeden's main interest are the study of actual poliical thinking at various levels of articulation, elaborating the liberal thought from the 19th century to the present and the specifically political features of political thinking. He has written on welfare thinking and rights, on the nature and attributes of political concepts, on eugenics, on New Labour, on political practice, and on conceptual history.

The prize-giving of Michael Freeden, Professor at Oxford University and world renowned expert in political theory, places the University of Bologna in the network of the most prestigious Universities, confirming its vocation for excellence.

The ISA Medal for Science is the highest honour awarded by the Institute "in recognition of research contributions characterized by both excellence and influence".

During the event prof. Freeden will deliver the lecture "The elusiveness of politics".
