Goetz, Andrew Robert

His research interests include economic, urban, and transportation geography; urban, metropolitan, and statewide transportation planning; intermodal transportation; transportation, land use, and urban growth; airline industry and policy; airport planning; globalization; and sustainable transportation.

Profile

Andrew R Goetz is Professor and Chair of the Department of Geography, and participating faculty in the Graduate School of International Studies, the Urban Studies program, and the Intermodal Transportation Institute, at the University of Denver. He has published numerous journal articles and book chapters in these topical areas, in addition to two books, Denver International Airport: Lessons Learned (McGraw Hill, 1997) and Airline Deregulation and Laissez-Faire Mythology (Greenwood Press, 1992).  Prof Goetz contributes to the undergraduate and graduate curriculum through courses such as Economic Geography, Urban Landscapes, Urban and Regional Planning, Urban Transportation Planning, Air Transportation and Tourism, Land Use Planning and Urban Growth, Introduction to Transportation Systems, and Geographic Research Methodology.  He is the North American Editor of the Journal of Transport Geography, a member of the Association of American Geographers Economic, Transport, and Urban Geography Specialty Groups, and a member of the Sustainable Transport in Europe with Links and Liaisons to America (STELLA) research group.  He is also currently a member of the Statewide Freight Advisory Council at the Colorado Department of Transportation, and has served on the Denver International Airport (DIA) Community Focus Group, on the Transportation Advisory Committee for the City and County of Denver’s Strategic Transportation Plan, and on the Transportation Advisory Committee for the Denver Regional Council of Governments [DRCOG].  Professor Goetz received a BA from Northwestern University, MA from Kent State University, and PhD from Ohio State University.
