Visiting Fellows

Profile

Ana Konestra is a post-doc fellow at the Institute of Archaeology in Zagreb (Croatia) where she previously held a doctoral researcher position while participating at several scientific projects. She obtained her PhD in Archaeology of the eastern Adriatic at the University of Zadar with a thesis on Early Roman fine wares of Italic production. From 2014 to 2018 she was a collaborator of the Croatian science foundation project "RED: Roman Economy in Dalmatia: production, distribution and demand in the light of pottery workshops“ directed by Goranka Lipovac Vrkljan. She is also leading various excavation and survey projects on the site Tar - Stanzia Blek, in the Poreč territory, on the island of Rab and in the coastal area of the Velebit Monuntain (Quarner gulf). Her research interests cover pottery production, with particular attention to its relationship with the landscape and resources exploitation, an aspect she is exploring through excavations and surveys as well.
Within these themes the project Tar - Stancije Blek is inserted as well, in the last years carried out through a collaboration with the Department of History and Culture of the University of Bologna and the Poreč heritage museum, aimed at studding a long dureé site, which, starting in the early Imperial period became, through a series of transformation, a medieval village.

Ana Konestra participated at numerous international conferences with papers and posters, and co-organized several workshops and scientific colloquia both at the Institute of Archaeology in Zagreb and  in collaboration with other institutions, among which the University of Bologna.
