Profile

Dr Sabine Vogler, Head of the Vienna World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Pharmaceutical Pricing and Reimbursement Policies and Head of the Pharmacoeconomics Department at the Austrian Public Health Institute (GÖG), has expertise and in-depth knowledge about European countries with regard to pharmaceutical pricing, reimbursement and distribution, as well as cost-containment reforms, access and affordability issues.

She is expert of medicine price surveys, analyses and comparisons. She was the principal investigator of large (European Commission) projects including the PHIS (Pharmaceutical Health Information System) project and the ‘study on enhanced cross-country coordination in the area of pharmaceutical product pricing’.

She founded the Pharmaceutical Pricing and Reimbursement Information (PPRI) network in 2005, currently comprising around 90 competent authorities for drug pricing and reimbursement from 46, mainly European, countries, plus international institutions like WHO, European Commission, OECD, World Bank. She has been working as a consultant for WHO, OECD, the European Commission and Member States.

She is co-author of numerous publications in top field journals like The Lancet, Value in Health, Health Policy, PLOS Medicine. Relevance of the economics of pharmaceuticals.
